Junior Playground

A big CHANGE in the Junior School

For the last couple of weeks SPS has been getting ready for our new junior school playground.  First, a digger had to come in to get the ground ready.  Then the playground got put in.  After that, bark got put on the ground around the playground.  Finally, we got to play on it.  We felt excited to get a new playground to play on.  Check out the progress below!

Everyone came out to watch the diggers in action

Fences were added around the playground area to keep us safe

Technology in Room 4

Learning with iPads

This week Room 4 have been learning how to use iPads to enhance our learning.  We have been using them during guided reading.  We know how to make a video of ourselves reading, and then play it back to listen to what we sound like! We have also been using the iPads during Maths.  We know how to play Zoom, which helps us with number sequencing.

Farewell Whaea Nikki!

Today Sylvia Park School said "See you later!" to Whaea Nikki and her family because they are moving to Japan.  To celebrate Whaea Nikki's time at SPS we had a mufti day and we had a special surprise assembly to share all the great times SPS had with Whaea Nikki.  We will miss Whaea Nikki and look forward to her coming back to visit soon!

Mufti Day

To celebrate Whaea Nikki's time at Sylvia Park school we had a mufti day.  We wore clothes that were red, yellow or black.  Red, yellow and black are the Chiefs colours and Lelia Masaga (Whaea Nikki's husband) played for the Chiefs.  SPS thought this was a nice way to honour Whaea Nikki and her family.  Whaea Nikki even got to choose a charity to donate our mufti money to!

Writing about CHANGE

Last Thursday Mr West changed our timetable - instead of going to Jump Jam we played a game of soccer.  During writing this week we have been working on writing a recount about the change in our timetable.  You can read some of our published work below.
